TDITM 26: Goose a-Laying Hail Mary
Once again I let the month get away from me and barely finished my TDITM challenge on time. But I did it! I’ve been dug in pretty deep writing my new pattern, plus hosting stuff at my house and teaching Bible classes over the last couple of weeks. Not to mention I’ve been having some eye trouble*, which slowed me down. A few times this month I thought, oh I’ll get to it in plenty of time, no worries. And ended up facing this pile on my desk on the last morning of June.
*Have you ever heard of vitreous detachment? Apparently because I’m old, the gelatinous ball filling my eye has decided to detach from the retina, creating an impressive light display and many floaters.
So by the time I finished both ornaments late this afternoon, the light was not great. I’ll have to take the proper photos tomorrow, if it’s sunny. I took a risk and introduced citron felt this time on the nest. I really like it, but the problem is that color hasn’t been used so far in felt form, just in the embroidery. I’m thinking I can blend it in by using more touches of citron felt on future ornaments. Or I might change my mind and just remake the goose and egg. I’m also considering remaking the pear to add more citron. You know, my usual craziness.
Goose a-Laying is pattern number six in my Twelve Days series, and this 2026 set is for my youngest, Lydia. I’m hoping to gift her an entire set of ornaments this color scheme of her choosing for Christmas! Thanks for tagging along and sewing along. If you spread this project out over twelve months, it’s a lot less stressful. Or it should be. LOL
