TDITM 26 Challenge: Colly Bird

Happy spring! If you are participating in my Twelve Days in Twelve Months sewing challenge to complete one Twelve Days ornament a month, it’s time to tackle the fourth pattern: Colly Bird!

And if you so choose, scroll down for the eggstra credit assignment. You better jump on that first, because Easter is super early this year. April 5th!

Shown: Blue/yellow (color guide), black/blue (no color guide but was made with Benzie Black, Graphite, Cyan, Burgundy, and Magenta), and blue/pink (color guide)

Wait, isn’t it “calling bird”?
It was changed to calling bird for the modern song, but it was originally colly bird. Colly bird is an Old English term for blackbird. But you can make yours in any color you wish! Because mmmakers do what we want.

For mine, I will be swinging back to the red/pink end of my color palette (similar to the Turtle Dove from Feb), because I’m alternating each month. I’ll end up with a half and half set, like Abigail’s.

This is the one I made last year! Here’s the color guide

Add a photo of your completed ornaments in the comments of the pinned Facebook post, or tag your Instagram post with @mmmcrafts and #twelvedaysin12months to share your progress! (Please, no photos of my pattern pages.)

If you don’t have the pattern yet, here you go: Colly Bird (Or if you need the whole series, the 1-12 bundle is the best discounted price and contains bonus materials!)

APRIL EXTRA CREDIT ASSIGNMENT (better hurry!):

If you have the time and inclination by April 5th (wow, it’s an early Easter this year, you better hurry!) your extra credit this month is to sew the egg from pattern no. 6, Goose a-Laying. This pretty egg will pull double duty as an Easter ornament!
