TDITM 26: Colly Bird flies in early

The set so far!

I was so freaked out after my March color crisis that I went ahead and made Colly Bird just so I would have the time cushion to remake it multiple times. That is just how my TDITM 26 seems to be going. But acshully I really like the first finished ornament! Shazam! I only agonized a little during the middle of the process and had to embroider an extra wing piece JIC. Which I didn’t use. I would perhaps change one floss color if my imaginary cat ate the colly bird and I had to make it again, but I’m going to call it done. *wipes forehead*

That dash under the No is a bit wonky but I’m OK

Colly Bird is pattern number four in my Twelve Days series, and this particular one is for my youngest, Lydia. I’m hoping to gift her an entire set of ornaments this color scheme of her choosing for Christmas! So I’m dragging y’all along with me and encouraging you to make a set too! If you spread it out over twelve months, it’s a lot less stressful. Well, it can be if your name is not Larissa. And if you are doing the extra credit assignments, you are in even better shape! Alas. I have not.

COLOR GUIDES

Like on Abigail’s colly bird, I used a dark felt for the head as a nod to the word ‘colly’ (which means coal) and added a translucent iridescent sequin behind the eye. And of course, the shiny silver on the wing.
