Merry Humbug April: Mrs Claus!
Girl power! No festive Christmas ever comes together without a busy Mrs Claus, large coffee in hand. If you are participating in my Merry Humbug challenge, she’s your April assignment! This is a challenge for folks who are ready to tackle my intermediate level patterns, so you should have some mmmakin’ experience under your belts. (If you have completed my Twelve Days series, you are ready!)
Add a photo of your completed Mrs Clauses in the comments of the pinned April Facebook post, or tag your Instagram post with @mmmcrafts and #merryhumbugchallenge to share your mmmakes! (Please, no photos or videos of my pattern pages.) Listen, as much as I’d like to, I can’t sew along with you. I’m up to my eyeballs with projects, but I’ll cheer you on!
PLAN YOUR COLORS:
I used two different wool-blend color palettes for my samples, both from Benzie Design: Classic (the red and yellow ones) and Retro (the pink and mint ones). Links to buy the felt bundles and detailed color guides are here. And of course, if those colors are not your jam, choose your own! Use the color planner to help you stay organized. And here’s a helpful cheat for creating your own color schemes.
HEAD TUTORIAL: Please review this helpful tutorial for making winsome faces, then follow the detailed instructions for Mrs Claus’s head, which are included in the pattern. Traditionally she has white hair, so you’ll need a paint marker or some white paint. Or you can go for a Miss Jessica vibe and make her a redhead.
NOTE: If you have trouble sourcing some of the notions or tools required, Benzie Design stocks a lot of what you need! They are awesome. If you are outside the US, check here.

You’re right. The white colly bird is SO much nicer than the ecru. Down with ecru – not festive at all! I’m going to do the whole Night Before Christmas for this Christmas, so I’d better get started 😳
Fantastic! Love to see what you make!
