TDITM: In which I pull together my palette and try to make my January deadline

I have accepted my own challenge but I seem to be fast running out of January. I might just scrape by. I’m pulling together the wool felt palette I want for my daughter’s Twelve Days set and getting the pre-soak going. She chose the palette inspiration photo of my Drummers Drumming, all done up using Benzie Design Twelve Days bundle No 3.

She’s like me, as we both enjoy colors that are a sidestep away from traditional colors. Her favorite color is green and she’s drawn to these warm tones. I have ordered some additional colors of Benzie 100% wool Bellwether felts and I’m going to combine those with their wool blends to get just the colors I wish.

I’m also going to throw in some gold DMC Diamant embroidery and yes I think a few touches of Bellwether gold metallic felt, plus I’m pretty sure I’ll be adding some sparkle with beads and sequins. Go big!

My color palette building method, if you are curious:

4-5 main felt colors in light, medium, and dark shades of each, plus a couple of unexpected accent colors (pink!)

In this case, the mains are shades of mustard, orange, olive, and teal. (Those are general colors and not the names of wool felt colors. I’ll share specific color names when I get them all nailed down.)

I’ll be using DMC floss to add in some white and pops of contrast colors. Once I get the final palette sorted, I’ll show you what it is, and hopefully my finished Partridge & Pear. *fingers crossed*

Yay! This is fun. 🙂 It’s been forever since I’ve made these patterns. Even after January it’s not too late. Join the challenge anytime! Post your photos in the comments on Facebook or tag @mmmcrafts and #twelvedaysin12months on IG.
