TDITM 26 July Challenge: Swan a-Swimming

The. Very. Last. Bird. Yay! Welcome to July’s new pattern challenge. If you are participating in my Twelve Days in Twelve Months sewing challenge to complete one Twelve Days ornament a month, it’s time to sew the swan!

Shown above: Swan a-Swimming ornaments. Color guides found here: Mustard and light pink swan and dark pink swan

After completing June’s challenge, we are now officially halfway through our TDITM! *high fives to all of us* More than halfway if you count the number of ornaments! Let’s stay the course! The swan construction is pretty similar to the goose, so you should find that it all goes swimmingly. Ah ha ha. And no second bonus ornament to sew. Fantastic. I plan to make my swan using the aqua/green end of my chosen Benzie color palette. I also plan not to wait until the last day of the month like I did for Goose. Fingers crossed.

Q: I’m just starting. Is there still time to make a full set by Christmas?
A: Heck yeah! Sewing one pattern per month is actually a pretty sedate pace. You could very comfortably sew 3-4 of these ornaments per month. In panic mode, sewing 2 ornaments a week is doable, but that would be a bit less enjoyable. Ha! (Each ornament takes 2-3 crafternoons to make.) Jump on in and sew at your own pace. Remember: No matter how many ornaments you make by December, you will still be closer to a set!

This is the swan I made for Abigail in 2025
