New Ebenezer pattern underway!
My desk is full of in-progress hoop skirts and bloomer edging. High time the Ebenezer series features a girl, right? Who is this mystery lady, you ask? She is, for lack of a better name* (and believe me, I’ve searched), Mrs. Fred.
Who’s Fred, you ask? Fred is Scrooge’s good-natured nephew, the son of his beloved (and departed) sister, Fan. Nephew Fred is married, but unfortunately Mr Dickens never gives this pretty, vivacious, clever (and apparently kissable) wife a name. So Mrs Fred she must be. Between you and me, she was supposed to be the eighth pattern in the series, not the seventh, but I’m a little tired of designing blokes.
*Some theatrical and movie productions have given her a name, but I like to stick with the original work.
Bloomers are fun. This very early sneak peek of Mrs Fred is, of course, missing all of the decorative embroidery (and her head, obviously) because a lot of adjustments need to be made to the shapes first.
DOUBLE PURPOSE: I’m hoping and testing that this pattern might serve not only as Mrs Fred, but also a Victorian carol singer with the addition of the cape and bonnet options. Some of you Ebenezer mmmakers have also expressed a wish to make a Mrs Cratchit, and I’m thinking you could repurpose this pattern for her too? I know, I know, including too many options will make the pattern take forever, and I’m hoping to have it released by the end of the year. So I leave any Cratchit mods to your own ingenuity.
Wish me luck!
How about Ebenezer’s fiancé Belle?
Sure, you could make one for her also!
