Merry Humbug January: Mr Scrooge!
If you are participating in this new Merry Humbug challenge, here’s your official first month’s assignment: Mr Scrooge! I think his grumpy expression perfectly embodies my post-Christmas attitude. This is a challenge for folks who are ready to tackle my intermediate patterns, so you should have some mmmakin’ experience under your belts. (If you have completed my Twelve Days series, you are ready!)
Add a photo of your completed scowlers in the comments of the pinned January Facebook post, or tag your Instagram post with @mmmcrafts and #merryhumbugchallenge to share your progress! (Please, no photos or videos of my pattern pages.) I’ll cheer you on!
PLAN YOUR COLORS:
I used two different wool-blend color palettes for my samples, both from Benzie Design: Victorian and Modern Pastel. Links to buy the felt bundles and detailed color guides are here. And of course, if those colors are not your jam, choose your own! Be sure to get the color planner to help you stay organized. And here’s a helpful cheat for creating your own color schemes.
HEAD TUTORIAL: Please review this helpful tutorial for making winsome faces, then follow the detailed instructions for his head included in the pattern.
NOTE: If you have trouble sourcing the 3 mm mini-chenille stems and stiffened felts, Benzie Design stocks them. You can also give a 6 mm white chenille stem a neat haircut.
