It’s not you, it’s me, Bob. Also, it’s a little you.

Time to put the Bob Cratchit prototypes away and look at something else, as frustration levels are rising. On the 2nd draft (the one on the right) the shape of his coat got wronger and not righter in most ways. The collar is puzzling me. I don’t like the initial embroidery or the patches either, and I have a headache which ain’t helping matters. Sleeping on it usually helps. I’ll have to switch to my Turtle Dove for a bit and get that finished.
I do like the latest head with brown porkchop sideburns, so that is locked in, but the jury is out on the combover. I like the idea of a tiny bit of hair on his forehead but I might try it with floss to see if that is better. You can see the previous two heads in the photo too, 1) Elvis on a pike and 2) Mr Gray Porkchops.
Don’t worry, hating it periodically and questioning my abilities is all part of the process. I’ll get it figured out eventually, Lord willing.
Bob Cratchit will be the 6th pattern in my Ebenezer Ornament Series.
I like the hair on the one on the right. I think he definitely needs a receding hairline. I feel like the embroidery on the coat sleeves is not in keeping with Bob’s station in life. And about the collar, I feel like I know what you are reaching for. The point that sticks out should lie flat and be integrated into the front of the coat where the buttons. Google Navy Peacoat and I think you’ll see what I mean. I love the top hat and I think you are off to a great start!
Thank you!
A dear friend played Bob for several years in a community theater. This is a perfect gift for him! Excited to try making it!
Oh, how cool!
Muttonchops?
yes! 🙂
I love these characters and they could be incorporated in fancier coats for the villagers and some of Bob’s acquaintances. I would like to see their lady friends too, in fancy gowns! Anyway, the different hair styles would suit just any of the characters in this story (maybe even a knot or a pony tail)! The jackets are just great ….maybe a little more width on the chest area so the jacket has slightly more room, to close if desired.
What fun!
Mary Ann, thank you!
I like the Bob with brown porkchops and the combover. I’m so excited to start this series!!
Yay! thanks so much!
I am making these now. I love the comb-over! Thank you for sharing your progress, it helps to realize how much hard work you put into these patterns.
Thanks so much, Angie!
