These ornaments are embroidered and sewn together by hand using my detailed step-by-step instructions. Skills needed to begin: basic hand stitches like backstitch, whipstitch, and French knot. Sulky Stick ‘n Stitch is the secret to making these, y’all. Just embroider right on the printed lines. More details on my website.

Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse! My Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse! My wool felt ornaments are sewn, embroidered, and crafted by hand using my detailed step-by-step instructions. Worried about loose pieces disappearing? Choose the option for a tethered mouse with attached teddy. This is not a beginner’s project! If you have completed my Twelve Days series, you are ready.

OK I was intrigued by a lovely mmmaker who told me OK I was intrigued by a lovely mmmaker who told me she seals her wood beads with hairspray. Of course, I had to try it. See the beads on the red chenille stem and the head on the drummer-to-be? They have been sprayed with the cheap aerosol I had on hand. Yes, I’m a Walmart hairspray type of person. (Pink chenille beads = no spray)
Conclusion: Hairspray does seal the bead nicely with no stickiness. I used permanent markers for the features and hair on the Drummer head and there was no bleed. Note: My hairspray added a yellow tint to the wood, and I have no data to see how it holds up over time. Matte Mod Podge is also fantastic if you want to seal your bead. No yellow tint, dries quickly, and it has a long craft track record. Both sealers add a verrrrry slight sheen to the bead. 
Remember: If you do seal your wood beads, do NOT use fabric or gel pens for the features. They will smear!
