Merry Christmas!
Happy Christmas Eve! I wish you all a beautiful Christmas day filled with the love of Christ, friends, family, and delicious food. To all my fellow hostesses out there, let’s remember to lay our Martha suits down. Let’s choose the good part. Be Marys. Soak it in, be present. ENJOY. I’m mainly preaching to myself here.
I can’t believe December is almost gone. Y’all. Whoosh! The first thing I do when I stumble out of bed is to turn all the Christmas lights on. (Coffee tastes better if there are twinkle lights. True story.) Three trees up this year, two 7.5 ft and one 3 ft tabletop. That last one^ is my new larger MmmCrafts ornament tree with lights off, so you can see the ornaments better. The old pencil tree bit the dust last year which was OK since it was too small to handle all the ornaments. This one is actually pretty full already though? I had to hang some samples on the family tree. Might have to start leaving some upstairs.
This little lighted Christmas house was my mom’s. I have it right next to where I perch in the kitchen so I can feel close to her. She loved everything about Christmas. Her absence is hitting me hard each time I hear her favorite Christmas songs. Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas by Judy Garland and Please Come Home For Christmas by the Eagles. My sisters and I have found ourselves crying at random moments in public in this first Christmas without her. That’s OK. It’s all part of grieving. We were very lucky to have her, weren’t we?
All the presents are wrapped. The menu is planned. I have my family home with me and that is all I need. I’m looking forward to a low key Christmas Eve day of cooking, puzzles, movies, and maybe a nice walk in this mild weather.
A very merry and bright Christmas to you all!
Merry Christmas to you and your family! Thank you for your sharing all year long, you are an inspiration!
