In which I remake all my TDITM 26 ornaments

OK, you know I’ve really been struggling with the palette for this year’s ornaments, right? And I think one of the reasons is that the Ecru (a very warm white) is clashing with the cool tones of the silver metallic. When Lydia and I chose the colors back in December they included a gold or champagne metallic at first, but then she changed her mind and chose silver. In hindsight I should have switched the Ecru to White, but I kept it because I thought it would give a more vintage vibe.

The silver has been hitting wrong with the Ecru all along, but especially on the green/blue ornaments. After French Hen it pushed me over the edge, so I decided to remake the entire set while it was still manageable. Of course. What else could I do? *snorts* I mean, right? So far I’ve remade the Partridge and the French Hen and I like them better. (The pear mercifully has no Ecru).

You can see the tonal differences above. I made other changes too while I was at it. Of course. I changed the wing embroidery colors on the Partridge and used an aqua sequin behind the eye. On French Hen I could have just surgically removed the wing and replaced it. But I decided to use white French knots on the neck ruff, so of course I had to remake the whole thing. I also used a translucent sequin behind the eye instead of cream this time, so it looks less like a death stare.

I’m remaking the Turtle Dove now and feeling better about things. You might disagree with me on this. And that is perfectly fine. Of course! If you have started a set based on this palette with the Ecru and you are loving it, please continue to use the Ecru instead of the White.

When I’m done with my remaking madness, I’ll take new photos and update the color guides with that note.
