TDITM: Piper Piping finished!
Skadoosh! Done. If you’ve noticed, I’m trying to get my junk together and finish the rest of my TDITM set in a timely manner. This will hopefully assure I am not sewing/crying at 3 am on Christmas Eve, as per my usual arrangement.
This piper was made according to my pattern with a few embellishments. I used gold metallic felt for the pipe and the flower on the coat. The flower also differs from the pattern instructions, as I layered some sequins and a glass bead on top. I also used 4 mm sequins and glass beads instead of French knots on the belt.
The wood bead for his head was sealed with matte Mod Podge this time instead of hairspray (yes, that’s a thing). Because the unfinished bead is sealed, I used permanent markers rather than gel pens or fabric markers for the features and hair. Sealing the bead does stop the potential ink bleed, but it also gives a sheen to the ink and makes it harder to fill imperfections in the wood with ink. So there are pros and cons.
