TDITM December: Lord a-Leaping
THE BIG FINALE IS HERE! *pyrotechnic display* I published a week early for those who want to get a jump on December. Y’all, we made it to the last month of our challenge! Look at that pile of gorgeous ornaments you made! Take a moment to pat yourself on the shoulder. And if you did the extra credit back in February, you’ve already finisihed the True Love Heart! So EXTRA shoulder pats for you. If you are like me, you’ll be sewing both ornaments. LOL
FINISH STRONG, PEOPLE! *huddles up with mmmakers* Alright. Commit right now to being DONE SEWING these last challenge ornaments in the first half of December so you are free to enjoy the season, or more likely, tackle other crazy things on your list. OK?? YEAH!! LET’S DO THIS! *break!*
(But wait, you might say, isn’t this the wrong order? Be assured, it’s the correct order for the original English carol. If 1780 is not for you, here’s the solution.)
Like the Piper, Mr Leaping is presented in side view so you can appreciate his flying coattails mid-leap. Reminder: If you are a bit nervous about making his head please review my handy head tutorial, then look for the specific instructions in the pattern. His hat is made the same way you made the drummer’s fez, only this time you’ll add a brim! New skill: you will be giving him articulated legs so you can reposition them, which is fun! Don’t worry, it’s not hard. It’s very similar to sewing a button joint in a doll, but without the buttons. I have a secret – I’ve already finished mine! My Lord a-Leaping and True Love Heart was sewn with the green/teal end of my Benzie color palette and I’ll be publishing that today.
STORAGE: OK, if you are gifting your set to a special person (which includes yourself – hey you are special) give some thought to gifting them with a container. That way, the treasured set can be stored unscathed between Christmases. I will be gifting my set to my daughter paired with a medium sized plastic Sterilite set of storage drawers, shown above. Hey. It ain’t fancy, but it is aces at keeping them from getting squashed. (I use the large and medium sizes of these units to organize all my ornament samples in my studio.)
Please add a photo of your FINAL *throws confetti* completed ornaments in the comments of the pinned Facebook post, or tag your December Instagram post with @mmmcrafts and #twelvedaysin12months to share your progress! (Please, no photos of my pattern pages.)
