Mushroom Quilt. Wish Me Luck.
I made the plan.
I ordered the fabric.
The walking foot has arrived. I hear these are a good idea when machine quilting.
So. I should have everything ready for my first for-totally-reals quilt. I have pieced many things. But I’ve never made a quilt with the batting, quilting, binding and everything. It’s (in theory) a twin quilt for one of my girls. They both need a lightweight option to add to their duvets when it is very cold or in summer to use instead of their duvets.
So. We’ll see how this goes. All I need to do now is shove this project under my craft table for a few months until the guilt overwhelms me, and then I’ll be ready to start.

Well, good luck, indeed! You're ahead of me… I've only made one quilt block in my entire life, and that was for a wedding friendship quilt, and the ones who asked me to do it were kind enough to even cut the pieces and draw me a diagram showing me how they should go together. 🙂 A quilter I am not. But I do have a walking foot and use it a lot! It's good for lots of things other than quilting! Have fun!

Love the reference on your guilt and shoving under the table…. glad I'm not the only one who does that !

Oh this is perfect! I love those cutie little mushrooms! One suggestion, if you are going to have this on their bed, with a pillow on top of it, leave a little more blue space at the top, or the polka dotted mushroom hat will get lost under the pillow. I guess I'm saying that the quilt will hang a lot differently on a bed than it will look flat, so just keep that in mind. Can't wait to see this! Also, if it makes you feel better, I've had the fabric to make Creamie's big girl twin sized quilt for oh, 4 years now. She's been out of a crib and into her big bed for two years in December…. the quilt is still half done. And at the beginning of August it was 100% not started. HA!
Larissa, I have guilt projects all over the floor, on the cutting table, on the sewing table, in the closet. Spreading all over the house.
pinksuedeshoe, you make a very valid point. It will look much different draped over the bed. However, my girls have bunks and we rarely 'make up' the bed with everything tucked and draped. They just fold their duvets at the ends. So I figured it would be folded at the foot of the bed mostly. However, now I'm thinking it might not need to be as large as a twin. Maybe more like a throw.
So exciting! It's going to be great. My kids have homemade loft beds, so I make their quilts a bit smaller than a twin – perfect for the beds, perfect for movie night!
LOVE the idea! Super cute. I actually find my machine quilts better without my walking foot. I just use the regular foot. Just a tip if the walking foot isn't being nice 🙂
