Waiting for Mr. Nilsson
Two Pippi prototypes, impatiently waiting for a loyal monkey friend. You can tell I’m having fun with crazy braid placement. The pattern* will allow you to attach the braids after the rest of the doll is completed, so you can experiment with the look you want. The braids don’t have any wiring, they just stick out on their own from sheer mischievousness.
*Due to trademark concerns, this will not be available as a pattern. See this post for the details!
LOVE the folded arms. So great!
I like! I assume there is no wiring for safety reasons, but it would be fun to be able to change the craziness at will. 😉

This doll is sooo cute! But as a 6-year old, when Pippi was my very favourite book and I was so proud to read it alone- I would have asked for a yellow dress, blue pants and one black and one striped stocking. And big shoes, just like in the book. 😉
Pippi is great and you made her so sweet, happy, with the look in her eyes.

Needle Little Balance, which book was your favorite? I have the Astrid Lindgren one and it describes Pippi as having a homemade blue dress with red patches, one black and one brown stocking, and yes, very large shoes. The large shoes are coming later!

Larissa, my favourite book was "Pippi Langstrumpf" (the german translation) by Astrid Lindgren and Pippi was described exactly like on the title, with a self sewn dress in a sunny yellow and blue undies with polka dots:

Needle Little Balance, that is so crazy! Why would they change that? Don't they realize I'm trying to come up with a pattern? LOL. Hmmm. So does the majority of the world know the yellow pippi or the blue pippi I wonder? I need to ask a Swede what the original says, don't I? Although, you can sew her in any color dress and stockings you like, of course!

Also, it's always fun to see the popularity of Pippi all over the world. The Astrid Lindgren characters are etched SO deep in the Swedish collective consciousness, they are just a natural part of childhood over here… Great to see some more kids are enjoying her too! 🙂
The braids on these dolls are just TOO CUTE! I love 'em. 🙂 What a great idea to make them after-construction add-ons so they can be placed "just so."
