Don’t look, Kristyn
I had these visions last week of making some handmade gifts for my lovely friend, Kristyn, who is about to have her first baby. Her shower was on Saturday, and before then I had scaled back my grand imaginings to a simple taggie toy to go along with the nursing cover and books I had bought. Which I started making the morning of the shower and (surprise) didn’t get done in time. So Lord willing, I’ll give it to her when the wee boy is born. By which time I hope to have made some bibs and burps to go with it. Hope springs eternal.
I used Chez Beeper Bebe’s clever, free rainbow sunshine plushie pattern (love it, thank you!) and scraps of chenille, fabric and ribbon from my stash.
I adore this — so cute and original!
Oh so very sweet! 🙂
Love it and love how you made it your own. Hope you will share a photo in my FLickr group–

Thanks for sharing, Larissa.
This will be precious, Larissa, and so useful! Ison was not a huge tag lover, but most little ones are. It will be such a sweet gift!
It's lovely I thought it was a little lion face. It's a great present especially if you don't know whether the baby's a boy or a girl.
Yay! I needed some new baby ideas for gifts! Yours is adorable.
This lion is so very cute!!! I am off to check out the pattern! TFS!

So cute! I actually have a sketch of this very thing that I drew up after seeing chez beeper bebe's free pattern :). After seeing it I'm going to have to make a few. Thanks for the inspiration, as always.
Absolutely adorable! Your friend is sure to love it.
I'm in exactly the same boat as you right now… and I JUST posted today about it too!!! I had visions of making a giant complete set of everything baby out of these wonderfully coordinated fabrics… that was in August… suddenly it's March and the baby was coming! I had the wonderful reprieve of the baby being born 11 days late, and now the actual shower is not going to be until April :D… i still have time! well, time to plan to do more and better things, that probably won't get finished 😀
this is right cuteee!
love this one! 🙂
Sooo cute! Maybe if I start one now, I'll have it done if any new babies happen to arrive? 😉
I love him! So cute and perfect for any little one! Thanks for sharing!!
Love this! And I even have everything on hand to make it – score! Thanks for sharing.
Adorable, I absolutely love it. Wow I wish I had some creative friends like you.
She's going to love it! Plus, this gives me some inspiration for future projects- Thank you!
She's going to love this. I've never met a mom-to-be who didn't mind receiving a gift later, especially when it's handmade. 🙂
looove this larissa. and the cute nose you added makes it super cool!
This is unique and SO adorable! My grandkids love the silky tags on their little receiving blankets, so this would be a perfect gift. I found some of that white fabric at the thrift store…have another grandkid coming in July…think I need to get busy. Thanks for sharing your beautiful idea!
y'all, thanks as always for all the sweet plushie love! Holly's pattern is really cute.
So cute! She will love it! I have friends who have 10 year olds and I haven't finished the baby gift yet. Sigh. I feel like such a heel sometimes!
Your work is amazing! I always love stopping by to see what is going on!
That is really sweet, Larissa. Still can't believe ol' Brianna's gonna be a dad!
This is so very cute!
And the circle quilt cover – wow, what an amazing piece of work.

First time poster .. this is amazing, I'm in awe of it's cuteness!!
Love how you "scaled back your grand imaginings to a simple taggie toy"! Find I have to do that myself to get anything accomplished! Great idea!
I made one like yours. Thanks for posting. It's sooooo cute. There are two new babies on the way, so I'll make another.
Totally gorgeous! I've been making taggie cubes, but this is much cuter.
I thought it was a lion face too. I didn't use the tutorial, I just modeled mine off of yours. I used ribbons that I got from the baby shower, mostly blues and browns, and a bit of soft leather for the nose. It turned out great! Thanks for the idea!
Hi. Thanks for the idea, my nephew to come is getting my version of this. See pics here:

I don't know if you will still see this message since it's a post from a couple of years ago, but I was wondering what dimensions you used for the circle face? I looked at the linked PDF from the other crafter's site, but the circle looked quite small. I enlarged it a bit but am still not sure if it's big enough when I take seams into account. If you have a moment for advice, I would appreciate it! I hope to try making one of these soon for my baby due in early March!
AD Miller, thanks for the question! I wish I could remember for sure, but I don't believe I altered the size. Just the face. As near as I can remember, mine came out to be about 5ish inches across the stuffed part, maybe a bit less. Her template is about 5.5 inches diameter, which seems right.
Thank you!
